Email Marketing: Email Marketing using Attraction Marketing Principles
Monday, August 18, 2008 at 11:18
Email Marketing is one of the Three Main components of a lead Generation System- whether its for your MLM or any home business wanting to attract more business and customers.
Here's a recap of the Three Elements that Make Attraction Marketing Work:
1. Prospects must find you and your content (for example on social marketing sites like Squidoo, HubPages, Ezine, youtube video, twitter, or your blog, or at organic social networking sites like FaceBook or BetterNetworker).
2. Prospects must join your list. There's a strategy as to where and how you place your links inside your content, to get more of them to opt in. This is where you build your email list.
3. Once they've opted in, you provide ongoing value to your prospects for example via email. Here you gain permission to advertise your offers slowly over time, after building a relationship with them. (Similar to how television and radio does- essentially you give the programmers permission to show you adverts as long as the content you are watching is captivating you!)
Email Marketing Do's and Don'ts:
Don’t send emails in the following cases:
* If you've bought leads and loaded them into an autoresponder, but you have no affiliation with them. This is spam. Also you probably don’t know what lead capture page they’ve filled in or what was offered on that lead capture page, so you don't really know where your starting point is with them.
* If you have built your own list but its old, and you haven’t contacted them for a while. (Over 6 months). Be careful. Do a test first, write to them reminding them who you are, take a few emails to get reacquainted with them. Or better yet, phone them first and get their permission to email them.
Do send emails to the following:
- If you built a list with an opt in process
- You used your own Lead Capture page or a system affiliation’s Lead Capture Page (e.g 7 Great Lies, Magnetic Sponsoring, Renegade University, MLM Lead System Pro etc etc)
- If you've made personal contact (face to face or on the pone) and the prospect has asked to be placed on your list (or consented, after you asked them)
The above is very important because if you get complaints from a lot of people who just think you are spamming them, you could lose your email account or your web address in your email could be blocked.
It’s the opposite of attraction marketing when you spam!
Its important in email marketing to START FROM WHERE THE PROSPECT IS AT...
Make sure they know why they’re getting the email (it must be connected to the same topic that got them onto your list)
For example if someone fills out a lead capture page about the 7 great lies of Network Marketing, they must get an email that’s connected to that. (Not to your MLM business opportunity!). If they saw you at a business networking event, the first email should contextualise and remind them of where and why you connected.
Give value in their specific topic of interest. (The first few emails needs to discuss the 7 great lies, and connect it to the problems of Network Marketing and then perhaps some solutions of Network Marketing- like attraction marketing).
If the networking event was about small business strategies, give some value or tips to do with that area of interest.
Remember in the back of your mind, you need to know what action you want them to take (in every email there must be an action you want them to take, for example click on something, register for a webinar, watch a video, fill out a survey etc)
Of course you also need to know what the benefit of that action will be for you (Will they buy something? Is it an email to further bond and build a relationship? Do you want them to move forward in some way, for example with some training they need to do?)
Here's how to make sure they know why they’re getting the email:
The subject line must be clear why they are getting the email from you and who you are. It must also tease them a little, enticing them to open the mail.
Remember to always go back to how they get onto your list (was it from your blog, your SBI website, an event or phone call ,an affiliate Lead Capture Page?)
Then think further-what was the Lead Capture Page’s main topic? Or what was the last step they took?
This will make you center your first email around this, contextualising it for your prospect and making the subject of the first email relevant.
Here are some more tips abouthow you can give ongoing value in the specific topic of interest
* Introduce yourself. Let them know you’re here to offer help.
* Ask them what their challenges are so you can offer a solution.
* Give insights or more information on the topic.
* Alert them to events or live/recorded training related to topic. (Paid or free).
* Share what you gained from that event. (You are then seen as a valuable resource)
* Alert them to other tools or resources that will help them or be useful (in that area of interest)-
* Here you can start with monetising your marketing efforts!
For example recommend E-books. I like recommending Magnetic Sponsoring, the Renegade Network Marketer or Romancing the Sale (building long lasting customer relationships) to my Network Marketing clients.
For some of my business clients I have recommended "The Halo and the Noose"- The power of Story Telling in Business. (It's about using the unconscious mind to get the message across through story telling, rather than using power point and other tools that talk to the rational mind".)
Everyone needs an email autoresponder system they might find useful. I like sharing I-contact with all my clients.
I also recommend SquareSpace blog platform for all my business clients, as it's easy and cheap to set up.
For any business person who wants to learn attraction marketing online, I recommend Renegade Professional. Click by click video tutorials designed from beginner to advanced.
The most comprehensive and cutting edge training I've seen online.
You get the idea.
* Share what you gained/why you like it. (this might be a later email)
If they started out getting on your list for on one topic, you may gradually lead them to other related topics.
For example, if a person came onto Renegade University, you might have shared some events and webinar’s in the training section with them.
In another email you perhaps shared a shared a valuable business tip. You might suggest that if they've started attracting prospects, they might want to look at something you've found that works...like Site Build It (unique websites for Network Marketers as well as all business owners).
You now can start putting offers like this in front of your prospects.
3. Think about What action it is that you want them to take in that Email?
Do you want them to...
* Log into an account and do something for example, watch a webinar, or upgrade to the Renegade Professional Training?
* Click a link and fill in Lead Capture Page or a survey?
* Register for a live webinar?
* Click on link and read something?
* Click on link and buy a resource?
* Email you or contact/call you?
* Read the email to get to know you better or bond with them. (You might be preparing to offer a serious offer, in which case you will give 2 or 3 emails of value first)
You Need To Know what would be the Benefit for you
Would it be to....
- Build a relationship and provide value so they can see you are a leader when they read your blog or other content
- Monetizing to increase cash flow?
- Drive traffic to your sites or content
- Prospect or identify candidates for your MLM
- Inspire them to seek your coaching/consultation services
First think of your prospect. (Ask yourself what value they gain).
Then think of what you want them to do and how you will benefit.
The first email starts slow. It’s like a courtship. Build trust first. (Don’t ask for marriage on first date!) Link it back to your content as well.
Then on the third or fourth email, after you’ve given value, invite them to connect back with you (ask how you can help). They are then reaching out to you. This is the first step of attracting them to towards you!
In your fifth or sixth email you can openly place an offer infront of them (For example your Network Marketing opportunity or products, or perhaps some other monetizing strategies eg. Affiliate marketing products). They will respect your offer and give it a lot of attention.
End your email with your blog URL, or your personal site, email and phone number.
In this way you’re positioning yourself as a leader! You are genuinely providing value by creating content and attracting people to you and leading them!
